"Human Vs Human" is a sliced and cropped image still from a video artwork which uses various autobiographical war veteran stories from online social networking sites and live recorded 3D game play from first person shooter games to create alternative narratives which subvert and intensify their original meaning. SB: What inspired you to formulate the project "Hire Me Out"?
CH: When I first started this project I was 25 and without money. All the final tuition was paid up at CalArts from the Anne & Gordon Samstag scholarship, but if I was to stay and work for the third year once I had graduated I had to buy a car. So I bought a Ford ranger with a flat bed that used up the rest of the money from the scholarship. While I was at CalArts from 1998 - 2000 the Aussie Dollar was around $0.53 to the strong $US dollar which made the exchange rate incredibly...continue»
